Tuesday, October 24, 2006 -  So Many Good Shows!

One thing about autumn that never ceases to amaze is the quality of bands on tour. This Thursday, the official blues musician of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Taj Mahal plays at the Calvin. Yep, the state legislature actually passed that into law this summer. We wonder if the state has an official weirdo yet.

The same night, The Fiery Furnaces play Pearl Street, while next Tuesday, October 31st, The Decemberists play the same venue.

As transplants to this city, we agree that Northampton has the richest, most varied, dopest, coolest, most hipstery music scene of any town in the northeast U.S. Where else can you hear former city official interview Thurston Moore about the demise of CBGB's?

Read about the upcoming Fiery Furnaces show in the Daily Collegian here.
